I grew up in a home where Homeopathy wasn’t just a treatment - it was a way of life.

Dr. Tania Blake,
A Life Rooted in Healing
After completing a diploma in Somatology in 1991, I began working for a Homeopath in Sunnyside, where I also practiced Reflexology from his health shop. It was there that I was given the opportunity to study Homeopathy formally. In 2000, I earned my master’s degree in Homeopathy from the University of Johannesburg.
That same year, I registered with the National Traditional Healers Interim Council of South Africa and became certified to practice as a Traditional Doctor, with permission to serve as a Primary Health Care Therapist. In 2003, I qualified as an Iridology Practitioner through the Academy of Iridology & Natural Therapies.
Teaching has always been close to my heart. I lectured for the British Faculty of Homoeopathy for three years, training medical doctors in Homeopathy under the guidance of Dr. David Lilley.
I continue to offer workshops for lay people on topics ranging from diet and supplementation to holistic healing. I’ve also been a guest speaker at congresses for the Radiology Society, Midwives Society, and Occupational Therapists Society, and have spoken at Waldorf and Montessori schools to raise awareness about Homeopathy and nutrition.
My goal is to assemble those pieces into a complete picture and match it with the most fitting homeopathic remedy — the Similimum. When treatment is approached this way, the transformation in a patient’s overall wellbeing can be truly remarkable.
Since 2000, I’ve run a private practice in Pretoria, specializing in constitutional Homeopathy. I treat patients holistically -emotionally, mentally, and physically - not just their symptoms. I also use Iridology extensively as a diagnostic tool. I see each patient’s symptoms as pieces of a puzzle.
My Passions
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)/Spastic Colon/Leaky Gut Syndrome is one of more than 20 functional gastrointestinal disorders and is characterised by stomach cramps, abdominal pain and intermittent diarrhoea.
The term ‘functional’ implies that the patient has symptoms related to the bowel, yet all the appropriate tests are normal. Abdominal pain is one of the functional diseases, but the pain differs from IBS.
Constitutional homeopathic prescribing is the holistic practice of selecting a single homeopathic remedy that matches the total, unique presentation of an individual—their physical, mental, and emotional totality—rather than just a specific disease or symptom.
It is based on the principle that a persons symptoms are all expressions of an underlying, inherent susceptibility or imbalance. The goal is to stimulate a deep, curative response from within, strengthening the persons overall vitality and resilience.
A well-prescribed constitutional remedy is intended to act on the deepest level of the individuals health. Its effects are not just palliative but are meant to be curative and restorative, leading to improved well-being on all levels.
Depression and anxiety can impact individuals of any age. People with depression frequently also suffer from anxiety. Depression is the most common psychiatric disorder. It is a disabling condition that adversely affects a person’s family, work or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and general health. Depression is typically characterized by low mood, low self-esteem, and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities.
Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress, and it can serve as a prompt to deal with difficult situations. However, when anxiety becomes excessive, it may fall under the classification of an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder is characterized by emotional, physical, and behavioural symptoms that create an unpleasant feeling typically described as uneasiness, fear, or worry. The worry is frequently accompanied by physical symptoms, especially fatigue, headaches, muscle tension, muscle aches, difficulty swallowing, trembling, twitching, irritability, sweating, and hot flashes.
All young children can be naughty, defiant and impulsive from time to time, which is perfectly normal. However, some children have extremely difficult and challenging behaviours that are outside the norm for their age.
The most common disruptive behaviour disorders include Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder (CD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
These three behavioural disorders share some common symptoms, so diagnosis can be difficult and time consuming. A child or adolescent may have two disorders at the same time. Other exacerbating factors can include emotional problems, mood disorders, family difficulties and substance abuse.
The term ‘menopause’ means cessation of menstruation during the time of the climacteric. The climacteric is the transition period in a woman’s life when the ovaries stop producing eggs regularly. Production of the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone declines, and menstruation decreases and eventually stops.
Menopause is also sometimes called ‘change of life’. The exact event of menopause (the permanent cessation of menstruation) can only be determined retrospectively after no menstrual periods have occurred for 12 consecutive months. The range for the age of natural menopause is approximately between 48 to 55 years old.
Metabolic Syndrome is not a single disease but a group of five conditions that occur together, dramatically increasing your risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. These 5 risk factors include: abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high blood glucose, low HDL cholesterol and high triglycerides.
Insulin Resistance is closely related to Metabolic Syndrome. Think of Insulin Resistance as the underlying engine, and Metabolic Syndrome as the visible dashboard warning lights that light up because of that engine trouble.Homoeoprophylaxis is the use of potentized substances (homeopathic remedies) to help protect against specific infectious diseases. It is a method used within the homeopathic system of medicine with the aim of stimulating the body's own immune and vital defense systems to reduce susceptibility to a particular illness.
The Remedies are typically prepared from disease products e.g., the Pertussin nosode from whooping cough bacteria) or from the causative agents themselves. They are highly diluted and succussed (potentized), containing no material molecules of the original substance.
They are administered orally (as small pellets or liquid) in a schedule over time, often for childhood diseases.
The goal is to enhance general immune recognition and response, rather than to produce specific antibodies, which is the goal of conventional vaccination.Adrenal fatigue is a collection of signs and symptoms, known as a syndrome, that results when the adrenal glands function below the necessary level. Most commonly associated with intense or prolonged stress, it can also arise during or after acute or chronic infections, especially respiratory infections such as influenza, bronchitis or pneumonia.
As the name suggests, its paramount symptom is fatigue that is not relieved by sleep but it is not a readily identifiable entity like measles or a growth on the end of your finger. You may look and act relatively normal with adrenal fatigue and may not have any obvious signs of physical illness, yet you live with a general sense of unwellness, tiredness or “gray” feelings. People experiencing adrenal fatigue often have to use coffee, colas and other stimulants to get going in the morning and to prop themselves up during the day.
